How Do I Connect My Gmail Account to SOUS to Send Menu’s & Invoices?

To connect your Gmail account to SOUS, this article provides instruction on how to:
  1. Enable Google's simple 2-Step Verification Process to protect your account.
  2. Connect to SOUS using Google's App Passwords feature.


How Google's 2-Step Verification works.

  1. You'll enter your password as usual whenever you sign in using your Google account.
  2. A code will then be sent to your phone via text, voice call, or from a mobile app (depending on your choices during setup).


Enabling Google's simple 2-Step Verification

Google 2-Step Verification adds an extra layer of security to your account in case your password is stolen.
  1.  Visit Google's 2-Step Verification page and click on Get Started.
  2. Enter your Google email and password (or just your password, if you're already logged in to Google).
  3. Add a phone number that Google can send the six-digit verification code to. (Do Not use a Google Voice number if you have one: If you use that phone number, you might end up locked out of your account.)
  4. Click Next.
  5. Verify your phone number by entering in the six-digit code Google sent you.
  6. Click Next.
  7. You may be asked to choose whether or not to add your current computer as a trusted device — select Yes if this is your own personal device, or choose No if it's a shared device.
  8. Confirm that you wish to turn on two-step verification by clicking Turn On.


Google will send your phone a six-digit code for any app that uses Google's web interface to authenticate your account.

Generating Google's App Password for SOUS.

  1. Go to your Google Account.
  2. Select Security.
    1. Under "How you sign in to Google", Click 2-Step Verification.


    2. Enter your Email Password
    3. Authenticate the 2-Step Verification Process
    4. Scroll down & Locate App Passwords
    5. Click the arrow next to App Passwords


    6. Type in "SOUS" wihtout qoutes in App name field & click Create to generate the App Password.



    7. Copy the App Password (It is the 16-character code)



    8. Click "Done"


Using the App Password to connect to SOUS.

  1. Navigate to the My Account page in SOUS (Accessed via the profile dropdown)
  2. Click Connected Apps .
  3. Select Gmail
  4. Enter your Display NameEmail address & App Password (16-character code ).
  5. Click Save
  6. Click Send Test Email
  7. Enter an email address & click Send to ensure a succesfull connection

If you are still unable to connect your account and send a successful test email please contact support by submitting a help ticket.

Please be aware that updating the password for your business Gmail account will reset all of your Gmail account's app passwords, which will cause the connection between your business email account and your SOUS account to  break and you will have to configure the connection again.
